= False Positives from Anti Virus Software =

Usually right after a new release, some Anti Virus scanners claim to detect Virus or Malware signatures in 
the Gpg4win installers. 


If your Anti Virus Software claims that Gpg4win contains a Malware signature you should:

* Verify the integrity of the downloaded file. (to ensure that it was not manipulated on transfer)
* Notify the publisher of your Anti Virus Software that you think this might be a False Positive.

Additionally [[http://virustotal.com | VirusTotal]] can help to get an overview about the results from other scanners.
Usually there is a handful of (often times different) signatures while the overwhelming majority does not find anything.
If your Scanner is one of the outliers this is a good indicator that it is indeed a False Positive.
